Problems associated with it?
Malocclusion in general is a condition that affects overall functioning that includes speech, chewing food etc. it can be defined as the variation from normal. It is present in various forms like protruding teeth, retruded teeth, spaced dentition, or may inherit as the deficient growth of jaw either upper or lower. Compromised facial and smile aesthetics that manifests as a result of the malocclusion can lead to lack of self-confidence, and even depression as documented in many survey studies conducted world over. The reason behind this condition can vary like early shedding of deciduous teeth, hereditary,  among many.

What to observe!
Difficulty in chewing food, slurred speech and occasional pain in the jaw joint, compromised aesthetics from irregular teeth position such as protruding front teeth, crowding of teeth, spacing between teeth, deep overlap of front teeth or asymmetrical alignment of teeth. These are the some common things that anyone can observe to detect any malocclusion.

Who are authorised to treat?
In India anyone who is a Dentist can treat malocclusion but its a condition that is best treated by a specialist in the field of orthodontics that is called an ORTHODONTIST. After various diagnostic procedures the treatment plan is finalized and treatment is started.

What is the right time to get a treatment:
For children dental visits should start at an young age (6 years old) annually, both to help the child become familiar with the dentist and to watch for any early predisposing factors leading to malocclusion. As for adults, besides addressing the aesthetic concern, the earlier one gets treated, the lesser is the chance for the occurrence of gum problems and tooth decay resulting from the inability to maintain oral hygiene.
